Take a deep breath, and relax in this mountain retreat overlooking the Continental Divide. The clients wanted to balance rustic and elegance for their family retreat as a getaway from their busy life.

We achieved this with a mix of materials such as stained beetle-kill ceilings and tumbled travertine floors. Glass and metallic tile in the kitchen and master bath added some glam. Lighting was strategically used to balance rustic elegance. We dressed it up in the master bath with a beautiful glass cut crystal chandelier and mixed it up in the kitchen with rustic industrial path lighting, and elegant pendants.

The ceilings were very high, so it was important to select a few key lighting fixtures to create movement in the space – primarily in the entryway, dining room and oversized kitchen.

We outfitted the powder bath with a large metal-framed mirror to draw the visitor into the space, and continued the rustic elegance with a hammered metal sink. The refined granite countertop is juxtaposed with a reclaimed wood apron front, and raw pendants that cast interesting shadows on the wall, creating a completely private experience.

The client wanted “soft, yummy” bedding, so we created a cozy sanctuary in their master bedroom that flowed directly into their relaxing spa bathroom. The clients love their rustic yet elegant family retreat as an escape from their busy schedule.
